1950's Alfred Shaheen Blue Hawaiian Sundress

$350

Absolutely darling, and one of a kind, 1950's Hawaiian dress by designer Alfred Shaheen.  Shaheen engineered unique silk-screening techniques for his textile manufacturing and is credited with popularizing the Hawaiian shirt. His beautiful and unique textile work make Shaheen's designs some of the most prized pieces in vintage Hawaiian collections. I love the sweetheart neckline on this dress and the extra pleats added across the bust. The waist has some scrunch elastic at the side panels that give the dress an extra waist-hugging, yet comfortable, fit. The skirt is pleated and voluminous.

The dress has great movement and a feminine, flattering cut.  The textile used is bright and saturated, with a classic Hawaiian print. The flecks of white in the design make the deep blue pigmented parts of the dress look like a starry sky.

In lovely vintage condition, with some wear on the inside of the body. A beautiful addition to any vintage collection. 24"-30" waist (flat/stretched) /34" Bust/Open Hips/ 38" Length. Genderless.
