MANNAZ Rune Ring:  Spirit of Humanity, Man, Divine Union

sterling silver, dark oxidized patina”

“About Runes:

We have inherited our knowledge of the magical and divinatory powers of Runes from Norse mythology.

The name derives from a root run- (Gothic runa), meaning: secret, whisper.

The Rune symbols are letters from runic alphabets used to write Germanic and Scandinavian languages long before the adoption of the Latin alphabet

Historically, the Runic script developed from Old Italic alphabets of antiquity such as Raetic, Etruscan and Old Latin.

In Norse mythology, the Runes are attributed with the power to bring that which is dead to life, and thus Odin recounts a spell:

“‘I know a twelfth one if I see, up in a tree,

A dangling corpse in a noose,

I can so carve and color the runes,

That the man walks, And talks with me.”’

About the artist:

“RedSofa is a jewellery line by Montreal-based metalsmith and designer Joanna Szkiela.

Inspired by nature and human nature, Jo

anna’s work is deeply ingrained with organic references and gravitates towards decidedly feral forms.

Her predilection for dark-hewn sterling silver, unpolished gold and rough stones is a direct homage to the sculptural yet edgy side of nature.

RedSofa's jewelry collections capture a magical, alchemical world with unaffected style and understated elegance.”
